Our Story

Community Inclusion is a key focus of our Katoomba Community Day Program. Each Wednesday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, NADO hosts a live broadcast on RBM FM radio station 89.1. “This Ability Hour” is presented by NADO staff and participants where people can turn in to listen to special interviews, disability sector news, local events and news, conversations and unpredictable music.

“This Ability Hour” is hosted by NADO participants with support from NADO staff Rose, Jenny and Karyn. The radio program is music based, with chat and comments from studio guests. It features an emphasis on social justice, community supports, inclusion, empowerment and access providing information that may be of interest to service providers, people with disability, their family and friends. It is designed to provide a voice for people with disability through an inclusive, creative and fulfilling outlet and deliver a high-quality radio program.

Our Team

Suzanne Giordano is our Blue Mountains Coordinator covering both Lawson and Katoomba and is one of NADO’s longest serving employee’s celebrating 20 years. Working as a Coordinator in the Blue Mountains has given her valuable insight into the issues individuals face as they strive for a better life. There are many reasons why Suzanne continues to work with people who have a disability, she loves the challenge of helping someone to be happy, gain confidence and make progress. To Suzanne, it is a privilege and an honour to work with our participants and help them reach their full potential. It’s a pursuit that is meaningful, fulfilling, highly enjoyable and lots of fun.

Celeste Bucknall is our Katoomba Community Day Program Team Leader. Celeste has worked in the Disability sector for several years coming from a background of computer and office work. Celeste came into this sector as she wanted to engage with people and support them with their talents, interests and actively be involved with programs which include their community.

Celeste is inspired by the person-centred approach involved in our Community Day Programs and the value of knowing that each day will be different and through working directly with participants and colleagues, we all come together to build on ideas for their individual goals which makes a positive difference with their lives.
